| | Harold Altman, a lithograph artist, was born in New York on April 20, 1924. He studied at the Art Students League, the Black Mountain College, the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris, and the Cooper Union Art School where he graduated. His lithographs include scenes of New York City and rural scenes of Pennsylvania where he lived from 1962 until his death on July 28, 2003. He taught at New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, University of North Carolina, Greensboro, Indiana University, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and Pennsylvania State University. His works are displayed at many notable institutions including the Art Institute of Chicago, Harvard University Fogg Museum of Art, New York Public Library, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian Institute, Whitney Museum of Art, and Yale University Museum of Art.
