Irving Amen(American, b. 1918)
Irving Amen, born in New York in 1918, is an artist whose oil and acrylic paintings, woodblock prints, lithographs, etchings, sculptures and computer art of the human form span themes of myths, religious symbols and stories, and daily life. His art career began at a young age and by the age of 14 he received a scholarship to the Pratt Institute. Some of his woodblock prints are housed in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian Institution. He was elected member of Accademia Fiorentina Delle Arti Del Disegno, an organization to which Michelangelo, his long time idol, belonged. He has taught sculpture and printmaking at the Pratt Institute and Notre Dame University.
