Dali, Salvador(Spanish, 1904-1989)
Born Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech on May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain. He experienced a great amount of success over the course of his life. Throughout his childhood, he studied art, which resulted in an eclectic style influenced by renaissance painters as well as contemporaries of his such as Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró. His works often focus on surrealist scenes, which incorporate eccentric use of color, desert landscapes and religious symbolism and iconography. Throughout his painting career he was heavily influenced by Cubism, Dadaism, and Surrealism. He died January 23, 1989 in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain at the age of 84.
